View Article  Healthy Feet Sock talk - Chilblains

Chilblains are a circulatory problem, associated with cold weather. They itch and burn and become even itchier when warm. The tiny blood vessels under the skin narrow (constrict) when the skin becomes cold. The blood supply to areas of skin may then become very slow. As the skin re-warms there is some leakage of fluid from the blood vessels into the tissues. In some way this causes areas of inflammation and swelling leading to chilblains.

What to do: Prevention is best: Ensure your feet are kept warm, don’t walk barefoot on cold surfaces or wear shoes and socks that too tight-fitting. HJ Socks have a range of socks that can help you prevent chilblains, wool rich for good insulation and with a cushioned sole. For example, the HJ 212 Cotton Rich Cushioned Boot Sock.

View Article  FlysafeTM Travel Socks

For travellers, HJ Socks has a great must-have: FlysafeTM socks. These socks are made from 77% cotton, Elastane and Polyamide and we recommend them for any type of long distance travel, to prevent tired aching legs, swollen ankles and circulatory problems, such as DVT (deep vain thrombosis).

FlysafeTM socks have three different areas of compression: maximum compression at the ankles, medium compression in the mid-calf area and minimum compression under the knee.  Graduated compression helps improving blood flow, if you are sitting down for a long period of time.

Suitable  for all age groups and available in S, M and L sizes,  FlysafeTM socks are unisex and you can get them in black, navy, ecru and grey. More about the HJ 747 socks if you click here.

For stockists, check out http://www.hjhall.co.uk/stockists.asp. You can put your foot in no better sock.

View Article  HJ Softops awarded quality mark

"It is with great pleasure that The Institute of Chiropodists and Podiatrists announces the award of our quality mark to HJ Hall for their innovative Softop socks.  These socks have been subjected to wear tests using the latest state of the art equipment, as well as trials by patients suffering with diabetes and other conditions that can cause oedemas.  Patients taking part in the study used these socks for a period of twelve weeks and were monitored by clinicians who were briefed to look for comfort, suitability of purpose, patient view and whether they are helpful for patients with oedemas.  The feed back was all extremely positive."
